Installing a USB Printer (Mac)

Minimum System Requirements

• Mac 10.6 or later
• The latest version of Java. 
  • For Mac 10.6, go to the Apple Menu --> Software Update. For Mac 10.7 or later, it can be downloaded here:http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp

Notice

The following steps will have to be completed TWICE — once for the Barcode printer, and once for the Address printer.

Installation steps:

1. Plug your printer into a power outlet & connect the printer to your computer using the USB port. Then turn the printer on. 

2. In your browser, typehttp://localhost:631/admin

   • Sometimes, your computer will not be configured to open this page and an Error will appear in the browser. In order to allow the page to load, follow these steps:
     

     

     Click to Zoom

     1. Search and open the Terminal application on your computer

     2. copy/paste the following text:  cupsctl WebInterface=yes  and press Return/Enter on your keyboard
        

     3. Reload your browser, the page should appear now.
        
        
        

3. Click on "Add Printer"
   
   
   

4. To access this page, you will need the username & password with Admin rights to your computer
   

   • If you do not know which username you're logged in under, click on the Apple Menu and scroll to the bottom to see what your Username is.
     

5. Select "Zebra Technologies TLP2824 Plus" for the Barcode label printer or "Zebra Technologies GK420d" for the Address label printer.

   

   Click to Zoom

6. Name your printer and fill in the same for Description and leave the rest blank. 

   • You can name the printer as you wish, we recommend using the printer model (TLP2824 for Barcode and GK420d for Address.) 

   • Uncheck "Share This Printer" 

   • Click Continue.
     
     
     

7. First select the Model "Zebra EPL2 Label Printer" 

   • Then click "Select Another Make/Manufacturer".
     
     
     

8. Select "Raw" and clickContinue

   

   Click to Zoom

9. Click "Add Printer"

   

   Click to Zoom

10. Click "Set Default Options"

    

    Click to Zoom

11. Click "Administration" in the top navigation

    

    Click to Zoom

12. Click "Add Class"

    

    Click to Zoom

13. Enter "Barcode" or "Address" in theNameandDescriptionfields. 

    • Select your printer from the "Members" menu

    • Click "Add Class"
      
      
      

14. You have now successfully installed your printer onto your computer!
